About the Photographer

BEHIND THE LENS

Sam Guy is a 27 year old amateur photographer, originally from Northallerton, North Yorkshire, in England. He started taking photographs in his early teens, borrowing his parent's camera and experimenting with creating his own imagery. Sam went on to study photography at Northern School of Art in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England.

Sam specialises in landscape and architecture photography. Some of Sam's favourite places to photograph are local to him and include the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors, the Durham Hills, and the Lake District. Sam is interested in photographing the beauty of a scenic place, but also trying to capture people's idea of 'beauty' in the United Kingdom's open, unspoiled spaces.

When Sam is on location, he uses either a Canon 6D or a Canon 500D Digital Cameras, all depending on the results he is looking for. He has a passion for creating long exposure photographs of waterfalls and for photographing the interiors and exteriors of churches and cathedrals, trying to make the best use of natural light available to achieve his desired picture.
